Found A "Stray" and

Don't Know What To Do?

Where do you start?

1. Look for the owner around where you found the dog. If there are children outside, ask if they know the dog! Children are the biggest help, and know more then the adults most of the time!

2. Take the dog to any local Veterinarian office or shelter to have them scanned for a microchip! This might be the quickest and easiest way of getting the dog reunited with the owner. There is also no cost to have the dog scanned!

3. Post flyers in the area where the dog was found. Someone is looking!

4. Post a Free Found Ad in your local newspaper, they will run it for three days!

5. Remember, the internet is your friend! A lot of people use only the power of the internet now a days, so you should too!

What To Do If No Owner Steps Up ?

1. If you have the ability to keep the dog (Foster) until it can find a new home, Please Read our
"Need To Surrender" under Refer-a-Bull section, We can Help!

2. If you cannot hold on to the dog, Please contact your Local SPCA's or Humane Society's they generally have a  No Euthanasia policy for Adoptable dogs. If you can vaccinate and Test the Dog sometimes that helps getting them in somewhere!

3. Find out what the "stray" policy is in your county! Be armed with the information you need to surrender this new found pet. Most counties are a "30 day no claim" rule. Which means you have to look for the animals owner for 30 days before you legally can surrender or re-home the animal to a citizen. Private rescue groups, such as ourselves are only concidered "Citizens" and not a "County" holding facility so we cannot legally take in strays.
